We are engaged in a number of policy and intervention research projects focused on LGBTQ+ affirmative solutions for supporting LGBTQ+ thriving and eliminating mental health disparities. These partnerships include multi-national policy comparisons, state level policy and process evaluation, and testing of intervention efficacy.
LGBTQ+ policy & identity developmentIn the first study of its kind, we found evidence that country-level policies are associated with the age of coming out and the amount of time spent in the closet for LGBTQ+ adolescents and adults. Across 28 countries, having more protective policies for LGBTQ+ people was linked to higher likelihood of coming out and coming out at a younger age.
